From time to time, we all dream about being our own boss. We wonder what it will be like to be our own boss and then, when we start to get deeper into this small dream, we realize that it is only a dream. We say we do not have enough money to become our own boss, so we continue devoting ourselves to someone else’s company. Back up for a minute. Would you believe it if we told you that you really could be your own boss? It’s true and you would not have to put any money down. By freelance writing, you will be able to say ‘goodbye’ to working for someone else and ‘hello’ to working for yourself. As you read this article, you are going to be reading some tips for working at home with freelance writing.
To start with, there are many reputable sites on the Internet that will allow you to find some great clients. Take note: clients are the one’s that will be giving you the niches to write about. Whenever you meet a new client, you should do your research on them.
You can easily do this by copy and pasting their e-mail in Google search engine. If the client uses that e-mail (which they should use the one you e-mailed from), then hits will pop up of where the client has posted work. We do this all the time on our clients and it works great.
When you first start out, you may come across some scams. You may even become the victim of those scams, so you should make sure you properly do your research before you put your hard earned time on something. One thing that is not a scam is freelance writing.
Although, if you find the wrong people, you may end up working for free. Are you afraid of writing articles only to find that you are not getting paid? Most of the clients pay through PayPal, or Escrow.
PayPal is our preferred method. When you first start out with a client, you should ask them to pay you every five to ten articles. If they are not willing to do this and want you to do a batch of fifty or one hundred, then go on to the next client. You absolutely do not want to right fifty articles only to find that you wasted your time on it.
Feel free to connect with your clients and chat with them a bit, however you should not let the chatting go past a friendly relationship. Having your client become you boyfriend or girlfriend is no way to play around.
You should also stay organized and keep track of the price your client owes. Whatever you do, you should try to find long term clients, which are clients that will be around for many years. You need to find clients that always have work Monday through Sunday. If you do not want to work during the weekend, then make sure your client understands this before you start writing for them. There’s your tips for working at home – you should take note of them so that you will remember them.

Here, I’ll focus on 10 important steps to prepare for business consulting interviews. As an overall piece of advice, the best way to become a strong interviewer is to interview in live situations frequently – thus the reasoning behind spreading a very wide net and applying to many different consulting firms.
Getting ready for case studies
1. Read Case In Point – a thorough, 100% case study-focused resource
2. Browse Victor Cheng’s site www.caseinterview.com – Victor’s a former McKinsey consultant who provides great case tips and techniques
3. Practice online case studies – most firm websites have plenty of cases (some like Bain even have video case studies). The key is to answer the question yourself before reading the suggested answer. There are good consulting websites with case study materials as well, including Rice’s Consulting Club
4. Practice with friends – if no friends can be found, search sites like Craigslist, consulting forums, and the like for suitable partners
5. Practice estimation questions in spare moments (eg, if you see a Chrysler while driving, think about how many Chryslers are manufactured in the U.S.). It seems silly, but this is how you become quick and agile in your thought process
The key here: practicing as many cases as you can with actual consultants. Don’t underestimate their capacity to help you
Fit/experiential interview prep
1. Create fake fit interview questions and prepare sample responses – avoid rote memorization, but outline your main bullets.
2. Practice answering in front of a mirror – this helps familiarize you with body language, hand gestures, tone, etc
3. Practice with friends and family – have them ask you questions where you don’t have prepared responses. Improvisational interview skills will serve you well for consulting interviews
General interview prep suggestions
1. Wear something that looks clean, sharp, and makes you feel confident – first appearances are deceptively powerful. Dress like a management consultant, and people will think you deserve an offer.
2. Talk to as many consultants as you can – the better you understand the actual job, the more comfortable you are with consulting terms like “5,000 mile view” and “good client hands“, the better you’ll do. It’s also great for consulting job networking
That wraps up our tour of how to prepare for business consulting interviews. Good luck!

Blogging is a great way to reach your audience, share your thoughts, and even help you with your Internet marketing. I’ve been blogging for nearly 3 years and continue to enjoy the benefits of not only communicating with an audience, but engaging in meaningful dialog. Starting a blog is simple to do and pays huge dividends.
You may not know about sites like Blogger and WordPress but these online tools allow you to quickly and easily produce your own blog. The best way to start is to research these sites and begin the registration process. Once you register you will be able to choose a blog template. These sites offer a number of templates but often times you can find tons of templates to be uploaded elsewhere on the web. After you choose a name for your blog, you can then start posting and managing blog elements.
When starting your blog, be sure to decide what specific topics you are going to cover. The key is to keep your blog focused on a particular niche. The reason you want narrow your focus is because over time you will build out a specific niche. The more targeted you are, the more influence you can have with your audience.
Start your blogging career by choosing a free blog site to register with. Once you’ve chosen a blogging web site the next step is consider the specific goal of your blog. Are you going to be making posts daily or less frequently? It’s essential to layout a plan that you can adhere to over the long term.
Making money with your blog is easy to do and requires little knowledge of revenue producing techniques. Earn revenue through Google Adwords and text links. Google Adwords are quickly added to most blog templates, often by a click of a button. Sites like text-link-ads allow you to add links on your blog and get paid on a monthly basis. Both techniques are easy and allow you to generate cash twenty four hours a day.
I have already had a great deal of success making money with my websites and blogs. One of the fastest ways to start generating revenue is by creating a link list and requiring advertisers to pay for their link to be included. Start by creating a section on your site of ‘recommended links’. In the section of recommending links you will also place a link to how to add your link. This should be a link to a specific blog post or website page that tells users how they can advertise on their blog. I personally use a link listing service to take care of this for me. Alternatively you could perform this manually through Paypal.
Many individuals are monetizing their blogs by using pay per post or other blogging network. Essentially, advertisers search for bloggers who are willing to write a post to promote their product and services or brand. You can sign up for one of these networks quite easily and be contacted when advertisers feel that your blog would be ideal for distributing a message. You write a blog post and get paid for doing so.
Making your blog successful is based on a number of factors. I personally feel that having a successful blog is all about creating valuable content regularly that is meaningful for a given niche. The earning ability of your blog is directly correlated to the traffic you can create. At the point where you have achieved a regular and consistent flow of traffic you can take advantage of various methods for generating revenue.
